A planning effort to identify a Renewable Energy Evaluation Area (REEA) for solar energy development in BLM California's El Centro Field Office resulted in the Record of Decision (ROD) for the West Chocolate Mountains REEA FEIS, which was signed in August 2013. This ROD identified the West Chocolate Mountains SEZ (now a designated leasing area) in southern California. Documents can also be obtained through the BLM National NEPA Register's West Chocolate Mountains REEA project website.
